Speedwar for beginners!!! Empty
PostSubject: Speedwar for beginners!!!   Speedwar for beginners!!! EmptySat Nov 07, 2009 7:16 am

Well i have never seen a speedwar guide for beginners so i'm gonna try to make one! if someone feels like correcting me or adding something i have forgotten please do so!!! I'm far from being the most skilled player in SW!!!

INTRODUCTION

As many other game you can find on the net these days, Speedwar is a MMORPG (Massive Multimedia Online Role Playing Game)!
Its a waring game and the goal of it is of course... The fun and Victory!!!!
The game evolves around alliances trying to get their leader to the top!!! For this they have two weeks to develop their own strategies and aim for the win!!!

Every 5 minutes comes what we call the Turn! Its the moment you receive soldiers and attack turns (needed to attack your ennemies)! getting more and more men brings you more gold, and the bigger your army is, the more you get experience points (which can be used different helpfull ways)! Its all linked...

Speedwar get 2 kinds of players, the donators and the others! For the distinction between those categories of players i'll forward you to that topic (click here) in which I explained why people decide to support!!!

1. The Races

Nation
Bonus Percent
Main Bonus
Extra bonuses
USA
22%
Income bonus
Gold from Thieving
Germany
22%
Attack bonus
Prisoners of War
Japan
25%
Covert bonus
Hostages
United Kingdom
30%
Defense bonus
Prisoners of War
USSR
25%
Retaliation Bonus
Unit Production Bonus + 5% Attack/defense/covert

The Choice of the race is very important regarding to the step you're about to take!

Note that you can change race as many times as you want during the age! You can change race by going to your player's camp and under the preferences by clicking reset account/change race! Notice that once your race is changed, you'll remain unraked for the rest of the turn (which can be very handy)

USA give better income and is recommended when you have lots of officers, the income you'll give them will be bigger and as a normal consequence, the officers will be able to send you more gold! More gold means more upgrades, more upgrades means more unit production and more unit production means more income!!! See the interest???

Germany will be chosen when you're willing to farm (by this i mean attack for gold and rape the battlefield)! Not only will you get a better attack but you will also be able to take prisonners of war!!! Attacking when germany means, more gold AND more soldiers!!!

Japan will become handy when you're planning to Thieve players' weapons! Not only will you get a better covert action but you will also be able to take Hostages!!! Thieving as Japan means more weapons stolen AND more soldiers!!!

United kingdom will be picked by defense whore! People attacking you will take less gold and are risking to lose soldiers as United Kingdom can have prisoners of War!!!

USSR is very important in the unit production process! Beside the intersting extra bonuses it provides, the main interest of being USSR is being able to upgrade your unit production at lesser cost! Very important if you're planning to reach a good ranking in SW

2. Military Effectiveness

At the top right of your base, you'll notice your Military Effectiveness! You'll find there 4 categories:

The Strike Action (SA)

Your SA is your ability to attack your enemies! Its influenced by several factors:

- the amount of soldiers (trained to SA or untrained)
- The weapons your soldiers hold
- Your weapon technology (upgradable in the upgrade page)
- Your hand to hand level (upgradable in the upgrade page)

The Defense Action (DA)

Your DA is your ability to defend yourself against your ennemies attacks. Its influenced by several factors:

- the amount of soldiers (trained to DA or untrained)
- The weapons your soldiers hold
- Your weapon technology (upgradable in the upgrade page)
- Your hand to hand level (upgradable in the upgrade page)

The Covert Action (CA)

Your CA is your ability to spy and thieve your ennemies! Its influenced by several factors:

- the amount of soldiers trained to CA (note that your income will be less high)
- Your Spy Skill Level (upgradable in the upgrade page)

The Retaliation Action (RA)

Your RA is your ability to Break your ennemies weapons and to cause them damages! Its influenced by several factors:

- the amount of soldiers trained to RA (notice its very expensive to train those soldiers!)
- Your Special Forces Level (upgradable in the upgrade page)

3. The Turns

As said above, every 5 minutes you receive attack turns! You receive 3 turns every 5 minutes!
But there's a way to get slightely more turns with using MIRC!

Click on preferences at the bottom right of your base! It'll bring you to a page where you can change your email, password and IRC nick!
Set your Irc nickname in the appropriate field then join the SW's MIRC room (/j #speedwar)!

Doing so will bring you 2 extra turns every 5 minutes and will show you as online in the game!

4. The Attack

Clicking on a player's link, you'll have access to different informations and possible actions! U'll be able to whether send him a message, spy him, thieve him or attack him! We'll leave the 3first options for now and focus on the attack! Clicking that link will bring you to a choice between Mass!, Balanced! and Raid!

Mass: Uses one attack turn, causes a lot of damage and deaths but doesn't steal gold. ---> uses 1 attack turn
Balanced Attack: Causes Damage and steals gold. ---> uses 8 attack turns
Raid: Causes little or no damage but steals the most gold. ---> uses 15 attack turns

At the beginning of an age, when attack turns are percious, it's adviced to use the balance attack!

When your goal is to take the most gold possible, no doubt it's the raid you'll be using!

And if your purpose is your growth and stopping the enemy's one (involving your opponent has lots of untrained soldiers), you'll go for the mass! You can only mass the same person 150 times an will have to wait before you can attack that player again!

5. Spying/Thieving

Spying is easy, as long as your CA is high enough! While browsing the battlefield you'll notice that you can see some people's gold and for some other you won't be able to! If you don't, it just means you' opponent's CA is higher than yours and thus, it means reconning him or thieving him will most likely fail!

To recon someone you'll just have to click his name, then click the spy button! Once done, you'll have a spy report allowing you to have access to informations like military effectiveness, your opponent weapons or his untrained soldiers, as many informations that can help you figuring out what actions to take and progressing in the game!!!

To thieve someone requires bit more of work!
You'll first have to recon your ennemy to figure out if he's worth being theft!
You'll then have to decide whether you want to steal attack weapons, defense weapons or both!
You then have to send your spy in mission!!! The question is how many spies to send???

To figure that out, go to the tools page, clickable in the left column in your base, and enter the name of your target in the Thief Calculator! This will provide you the amount of spies to send! For a better effectiveness its adviced to retrieve 10% of that amount but its up to you really, calculating can be hard job sometimes ;o)

You're finally ready to thieve!!! Click your target name, then the thieve button, enter the amount of spies to send, pick the type of weapons (attack or defense) you want to steal and Steal! Your spy will automatically thieve the weapons your target has the most!!!

Of course don't forget to switch to Japan for better results!!!

Final remark: you can only thieve someone 25 times! You'll then have to wait an hour before you can steal the same person!

6. The Alliances

Being part of an alliance makes the game funnier and more interesting, but if you're reading this post it means you already found the utility of being a clan member! In an alliance the chance is given to anyone to get to the top and get the chance to win an age as the whole alliance is meant to work for the age leader!

People from the same clan can be recognised by their tag!

How to wear the tag?

Its simple! In your base, click on the alliance button! It'll lead you to a page where all the alliances are listed and where you can pick which one you want to join!

Why wearing a tag?

There are few rules in SW related to being a chain member (No chain member massing or thieving!!!)! Breaking those rules could lead to a ban! Thats's why we insist on the fact that every TrusT member should wear our clan tag!!!

If the rules remains unsure for you, go check them HERE

7. The Experience

With every turns you'll receive experience!

How can you get more experience?

- By building a big army! The bigger it is (Untrained, SA and DA soldiers only), the more experience you'll get!

- By clicking your recruiting link, you'll get 4points of experience! But this link is only clickable once every 3hours!

What can you do with experience points?

- Upgrade Bank Deposit Percentage (the bank fee will decrease as you upgrade it)

- Upgrade Weapon Sell Percentage (you can sell your weapons for a better price)

- Trade it For Turns (in your "utilities" page)

- Trade it For Soldiers (in your "utilites" page)

I think I covered the biggest part of the game! If I forgot anything, tell me! If you got a question, just ask!

You are now prepared to own Speedwar's world!!! Have fun!!!
